I have encountered a strange problem with FTP and our Unix (Sun) system and trust me there is an HP3000 thread in here.

We get a file on our Sun box of data for the financial system. It comes in from our network via FTP. We attempt to process the file and we get numerous errors and the report is junk.

If we FTP the file to our 987 and then FTP it back to the Sun system and then attempt to process the file, it works! The original data file in the Sun system has 125,807 bytes, when it comes back from the 987 it has 125,874.

What are those extra 67 bytes and what difference did they make.

When we attempt to view both files on the Sun system, they appear identical and line up correctly.

Any ideas?
