Hi John :)
Ok... putting on my CISSP cap... the first thot is one that someone
already posted... the fire systems can be integrated into the power systems
for the data center in such a way that the box can be brought down by the
fire system. The 3k's wouldn't come down gracefully... but they would come
down which is considered the "Best Practice" for this realm of disaster
recovery planning....

Note that you would have to have all this wired into your data center's
main electrical wiring by licensed personnel... remember also that you
really should power down the *ENTIRE* data center whenever the Fire System
kicks in! One option here (and it is an expensive one) is to have the
entire data center UPS'ed and then have the fire system 'override switch'
wired between the UPS and the data center so that the fire system shuts
down everything in the data center without regard to the status of the UPS
or the power company.

Also, the air conditioning system must be powered down by the fire
system to prevent spreading of smoke/hazardous fumes... You may also need
to confirm your company's security policy for whether or not to have the
locking mechanism's for the data center fail safe or fail soft ... remember
people should always be able to exit the data center!!! (Even 'Pointy
Haired Bosses' - Tho' Dilbert and Wally might not agree hehehe)
