You will need to rebuild the volume-set and restore all files that
were on it - as follows:

1. replace the disc and reboot with a start norecovery
2. log on to manager.sys at the console,

:vsclose privatevolumesetname
:volutil
scratchvol ldev
scratchvol ldev
.....
..... (repeat for each ldev in privatevolumeset)
.....
newset privatevolumesetname member1 ldevnumberofmastervolume 100 100
newvol privatevolumesetname:member2 ldevnumberofsecondvolumeinset 100 100
....
....
repeat newvol command for each remaining member of privatevolumeset

(NOTE: newset and newvol have very slightly different syntax - note
the absence of colon(:) in newset sysntax)

3. from latest ;directory backup media
:file t;dev=tape
:restore *t;;directory
(this restores all directory structures to all volume sets
(hopefully, this backup media will be quite current)

4. restore all files from groups/accounts that resided on that volume
set. (use olddate, keep options, among others)

Good luck.
