We just completed a migration from our old A500 to a new N4000, and I'm
trying to clean up a few remaining glitches here and there. There is
one that has me baffled.
The system line printer is a network-attached Tally T6212, doing HP
emulation.
The LDEV configurations are the same
> ioconfig:ld 6 (the A500)
> LDEV: 6 DEVNAME: 00000006 OUTDEV: 0
> MODE: OS
> ID: HPTCPJD RSIZE: 66 DEVTYPE:
> PP
> PATH: NONE MPETYPE: 32
> MPESUBTYPE: 0
> CLASS: LP
> NETLP
> ioconfig:ld 6 (the N4000)
> LDEV: 6 DEVNAME: 00000006 OUTDEV: 0
> MODE: OS
> ID: HPTCPJD RSIZE: 66 DEVTYPE:
> PP
> PATH: NONE MPETYPE: 32
> MPESUBTYPE: 0
> CLASS: LP NETLP
The NPCONFIG file was copied over directly from the old A500. The entry
for LDEV 6:
> # LPQ1200 printer in machine room
> #
> 6 (network_address = 192.168.xxx.2
> pjl_supported = FALSE
> setup_file = NOTHING.HPENV.SYS
> serial_printer_simulation = TRUE
> jam_recovery = FALSE)
> #
The "nothing.hpenv.sys" file is just an empty file (avoids the PCL setup
junk).
Print from the A500, everything is fine. Print from the N4000, every
spool file starts with some @PJL setup lines (e.g., LANGUAGE=PCL).
Have stopped/started spooler, and verified the driver process PIN
changes, so it's really restarting. Have powercycled the printer
(several times).
Have tried setting PJL "TRUE" and back to "FALSE", commented out
serial_printer_emulation and the setup_file, and the behavior changes,
but doesn't stop PJL.
My last option is to reboot the system, but that seems a bit drastic
(and more like a Windows solution :-) ).
This ring any bells with anyone?
