NMMAIL attachment codes can be fun. Not exactly the same case, but a few
months after I started using it, I had one file that would fail every time,
about half way thru. I looked for special characters there and found none,
for whatever that might mean about my file or my search technique. Changing
my routine to use attachment type '-a' instead of '-ap' fixed it.... not sure
why.

If you need to send files with carriage control or escape codes, my HP2RTF
routine can convert some of that to rich-text-format codes that nmmail can
send and PC word-processors can read. I would hope/expect that other
converters (like sf2html ?) could do at least as much.
