I have too many memories of working as a corrections officer for the State
of Arizona (some 26 years ago). I worked there just 10 months and I saw it
all (except an execution).

I still have my mug shot id and the shirt patches.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Stillwater Prison (was Latest Mailings From HP)

hello all,

RE: OT: Stillwater Prison (was Latest Mailings From HP)

A friend who lives in Stillwater says:

----------

Hi Jim, It's still here. (both) The old one in Bayport is minimum security.

The new underground prison is in Oak Park Heights. Both towns border on
Stillwater.

----------

I did get a few concerned responses to my humor ??:~)

>> Ah, my sorted past comes back to haunt me...
>> Yep, been there, done that. The last time I was in the Stillwater
>> State Pen we were under lockdown (1979 I think and I didn't start the
>> riot, honest! ??:~)

wanna explain this??? :-)

and another asking about hp's prison inmate engineer exchange program :-)

In college I was a math major and statistician for which I was hired
by the Economics, Psychology and Sociology departments to work with
under-grad and masters students to TA and assist in statistically
evaluating their survey data...

I spent enough time in the Sociology department that I was coaxed to
take 200 level courses in social work and criminology. I once made the
mistake of taking a 300 level criminology course. I ended up on tour in
the Stillwater State Pen, which promptly went into lock down due to a
fire set just as we walked in the door... now you know the real story!

I left the U of WI with a minor in Sociology which is always a good
backup to my Network Support Engineer job, who knows post MPE might
renew my interest in becoming a prison guard.
