A good and reasonably ODBC driver can be found at www.minisoft.com and
the people at Minisoft are great to work with. Be warned however that
accessing databases from MSAccess with any ODBC can be a real pig on
the 3k and on the network. A better way to access the databases via
ODBC is with a report writer that will use SQL calls and return only
requested data in true client-server fashion. Speedware, Cognos &
Crystal Reports have report writers that use Minisoft's ODBC driver &
you can get a list of these from Minisoft. If you have an MSAccess
application, the method you are using will probably work better that
attaching through ODBC. For my own shop, I am recommending off-hours
jobs to do extracts using Suprtool and then FTPing the files (from
within the job) to an NT server (or through the NT server using
Netware gateway services to a shared Netware drive) so that the files
can be loaded in MSAccess on a PC application. As for HP Info Access,
I've used it on an IX system but it is a 3k application so forget
about the 9k unless HP has ported it over and I doubt it. I haven't
used Info Access for a few years. Is it still sold & supported?

Subject: MSAccess97 to HP3000 ODBC

I am looking for a transparent connection from and to my HP3000 S/937
using
MSAccess97. This is the main area of interest. I presently use flat
files
input to through DBGeneral. And, export data from my current HP3000
S/70 via
"convert out" using HP's Info Access.

I presently use HP's Info. Access on my current S/70. Will it work on
the MPEix
HP and to what extent can I use this product with HP9000 CPU's?
