I have used the ADBC drivers to create several Java applications. The first
was series of CA-MANMAN transaction Classes which were fronted ended by a
third party Shop Floor Control System, the second was a stand alone
executable that retrieved data from the CA-MANMAN Quote System and produced
a Microsoft Word Document, which can then be printed, faxed or emailed to
the prospective client.
The ADBC drivers were designed with simplicity in mind. No prior knowledge
of TurboImage/SQL or SQL is needed to use the drivers as the TurboBuffer
Class provides many methods to access your TurboImage database, KSAM files
or flat files natively. The calls are simple and straight forward and with
a few simple examples an experienced Java Programmer can be accessing data
from the HP3000 very quickly.
In contrast to getting the Microsoft Word Classes to work properly, I spend
days experimenting before I had any success.
If any one is interested, we will be producing Java Applications to print
Quotes, Invoices and Sales Order Acknowledgements from the CA-MANMAN System.
If anyone has any other questions feel free to contact us directly.
