Hi All,

I've received quite a few responses regarding Cobol & Sockets. I downloaded
the socket.std sample from Beechglen and restored them on my HP 3000. I
didn't test them on the 3000 as I assume they work. I ftp'ed them over to my
Linux box armed with Tiny Cobol.

The Store-To-Disk file consists of 4 files, 2 of interest. SERVER, and
IXSOCKC. I modified IXSOCKC to be Linux/Unix friendly, thankfully the code
was documented to what is used on Unix. I compiled that and created a shared
library.

I then moved SERVER to server.cob, changed the uppercase "IXSEND", "IXLISTEN",
etc to lowercase and replaced the CALL INTRINSIC "QUIT" to a GOBACK.

Then the program compiles & runs on Linux, receiving telnet requests. Happy
Day. This should be enough to get us started. The only concern is when I
attempted to compile & run the CLIENT program, I received a Segmentation
Fault. Luckily, I only need to implement a Server in COBOL :-).

Anywho, thanks to all who contributed and I'm still interested in the INTERACT
article if anyone has it,
Peter Osborne
