There should be a file called simply hosts in your windows directory.
Make certain that this file (on the PC!) contains a valid name for your
server. In my case the name of the server is BRAHMS. My problem was (in
part) that I had configured the server name as brahms.sdl.com, and this
was
not what the system wanted! When i added simply brahms, and the IP
address,
I was able to connect with no problem! Give that a try.

I wasn't able to locate a hosts file anywhere on my PC. Do you have any
more information about it? File formats, or samples? When I attempted
to run the Setup program for the ODBC part of PCAPI, It failed, so I
ended up manually expanding and moving the DLL's and stuff around. Was
the hosts file supposed to be created by setup.exe?

This is for the GUPTA part of PCAPI, I am more interested in the ODBC
part, but I went ahead and installed the GUPTA part anyway to see if it
would work. Below is a list of the Network types and the reactions they
had in both the ODBC.INI file and the SQL.INI file.
