I see you've already gotten the "do you really want to do this?"
lecture, so I'll skip the sermonette. Another option, if you're
convinced you have a legitimate need for high-performance inter-process
data exchange: there are AIFs that let you allocate, write, and read
*small* shared memory blocks. All the usual caveats of PM
close-to-the-OS programming apply; i.e. if you screw something up, you
get to walk down to the computer room and type "TC" on the console.
