I took advantage of Jeff's cool system and found this URL:

http://raven.utc.edu/SCRIPTS/WA.EXE?A2=ind9403&L=hp3000-l&D=&H=&T=&O=&F=&P=7410

The whole "nostalgia" trip through Jeff's archives was motivated by some
communications I had this morning regarding "slide-projector claims" versus
"real life". I tried to find a hard copy of the HP Chronicle (where Ron
Seybold published a report of the meeting more than 2-and-a-half years ago)
and I failed. Jeff's message came as a life saver. I looked for "Rego,
New York, Oracle, Sybase" and out from cyberspace came this magical URL.
(Informix decided not to attend the meeting.)

Ron mentions several names of people and companies. It would be
interesting to see how the opinions of those people and companies have
held. How are such opinions now: The same? Worse? Better? See if you
can find YOUR name (or your company's name) in the article and please share
with the list (if printable) what your impressions are now.

Please note that this is digital archaeology. In Java time, this meeting
happened eons ago, way before Robelle's pioneering Web Site, Windows 95,
Intranets, 32-bit ODBC for IMAGE (see the upcoming SigIMAGE Newsletter),
intrinsic B-trees for IMAGE, network printing & web servers & Java for the
HP3000, ADBC, and so on. Ron Seybold's e-mail address was still at AOL in
those days (are you still there, Ron?). His current listing in the 3000
NewsWire shows

Besides this change, it's uncanny to see the currency of everything else
that Ron said "way back then" in digital prehistory.
