Just for the record:  I most certainly did NOT stick a knife into the
hp3000.

Just for the record:  HP is the one doing a superb job of
"dressing the wound".  Many people only wish, of course, that
such tremendous diligence should have been applied by HP a bit
earlier.  But that's another thread.
