It's a pity Alfredo chose to change the subject line, I rather liked what
it was called up to now. :)

Anyway, I went surfing to Tadpole (www.tadpole.com). It seems they are
treating the Precisionbook as a legacy item. Still supported, but no
longer sold. It was built on a PA-7300LC architecture. It came with 128MB
with a maximum of 512.

The disc drive was a 12GB SCSI drive. Pretty neat actually and you could
have up to 3 disk drives. I am not sure what bus architecture it was
built-on, but that is where the problems would be for MPE to run on this
puppy. You would need to have MPE drivers for the devices.

BTW, I draw you attention to the following story:

http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1003-200-5256515.html

This is about the announcement today from IBM about a laptop disk drive
with a capacity of 48GB @ 5,400 RPM. It spins on liquid rather than ball
bearings.

I want one of those.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

I'm sure this machine runs HP-UX and, where HP-UX runs, MPE/iX has
a good chance of running (perhaps with a little hardware "assist" :-)

Can one install MPE/iX on it? Can one buy a part from HP/CSY that
would "enable" such a machine to run MPE/iX? How much would an MPE/iX
license cost for such a machine?

Always looking for ways to increase CSY's revenue while helping our
lower (and upper) backs when it comes to lugging portable MPE/iX
machines,
