Position:       System Manager/ Programmer Analyst

Division/Office:        Division of Information Systems, Central Services

JOB FUNCTIONS:
To serve as the System Manager for our HP3000, performing primary
administration, configuration, and maintenance functions.

To assist in implementing new client server based H/R, P/R, Benefits and
Insurance software on a DEC ALPHA platform.

To transfer and convert  HP3000 data and systems to network based products,
as they are installed. (In approximately two years, we will no longer
operate an HP3000.)

A knowledge of current and future technology must be maintained through
formal education, extensive review of periodicals, peer contacts, and
vendor consulting. This requisite knowledge base makes future planning
possible and realistic.

To establish and maintain relationships with hardware, software, and
service companies.

        Initiate vendor support contact as required.

Provide remote and field End User support on PC , network, and HP3000
software including but not limited to: software configuration,
installation, upgrades, and maintenance.

Identify, analyze and resolve HP3000 hardware/software conflicts and
issues.
Provide help desk function for core PC applications used for word
processing, spreadsheets, E-Mail, etc. as requested and approved.
Provide support of other operating systems and hardware as they are
added to our infrastructure.
Create, test, and maintain a disaster recovery plan.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
At least two years experience with most of the following hardware/software
products:
HP3000, MPE 5, TURBO IMAGE, QUIZ, QUICK, QTP, COBOL, JobRescue, UniSpool,
GEAC World Class Payroll, TRANSACT, REFLECTIONS, SHEETMATE

HELPFUL ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE:
General Accounting knowledge
Modems and communication software.
DEC ALPHA server and related peripherals .
Local Area Network experience with Windows NT server and workstation,
Netware, TCP/IP and NetBEUI
protocols, topology, cabling, hubs, and communications software

Software experience:    MS-DOS, WINDOWS 3.1 and 95, WORD, EXCEL,
        ACCESS, MICROSOFT OFFICE PROFESSIONAL,MICROSOFT
        BACK OFFICE, DOCS OPEN, MS-MAIL, ARCADA.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field and two
years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Technical training in any of the software programs listed in the technical
requirements or additional knowledge sections.

EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Five years in Information Systems.
Experience communicating with people at all levels of technical expertise.
Experience in a multi-million dollar company planning, installing,
monitoring and expanding all aspects of information processing from both a
hardware and software approach.
Strong knowledge of HP3000 hardware including repair/diagnosis of component
problems and MPEoperating system.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to handle difficult situations, difficult people, and a high
level of stress, often at the same time.
Must possess excellent "people" skills.

This position requires the ability to lift and carry  up to fifty pounds as
part of our delivery and service function.

This position requires effective communication skills, both written and
oral.

Schedule is M/F 9-5 but must be flexible to accommodate after hours
testing, installations, "fixes" and off-site meetings.

The System Manager/ Programmer Analyst reports directly to the Executive
Director of Information Systems.

        Our organization is migrating from an HP3000 system to a DEC ALPHA
platform running Windows NT, SQLServer, and all of Windows 95 Office
Professional programs. We're moving from MS-DOS and terminals to Windows 95
and networked PC's. I'm looking for an experienced HP3000 professional who
can help us make that transition and then continue to work with in the new
environment. The data conversions, software, and system replacements will
take about two years. At the end of that process, you will be experienced
and qualified in many new areas of technology. The HP3000 programming role
will become one of programming in SQL and ACCESS. The HP3000 system
administrator tasks will now be for NT networks. In short, if you want to
