Although this bit of history is well-known among Zionists, it tends to come
as a surprise to almost everyone else that the first proposed sitings in the
early 1900's for the Jewish-state-to-be were in British East Africa or
Uganda, not modern-day Israel.

In a great number of ways, if this had happened, world history would be
substantially different today.
