No.  The series 48 was the same desk configuration as the 58.  It's a series
30, 40, or 42.

Isn't the item to the left of the Series 58
and chair a Series 48?  At first I thought
it was a disc drive, until I looked at it
harder.

The photo was taken at The Computer Museum History Center
(www.computerhistory.org) at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA. The systems are
a Series I, 58 and various peripherals. I too saw the ad copy and thought
how interesting that HP3000's were being used as props for a mainframe
software ad. On closer examination I noticed the ladder in the background
looked a lot like the ladder I loaned the museum for a volunteer project and
then said "hey that is my ladder!" I'm surprised they used the 3000 since
the museum has a complete IBM mainframe on exhibit along with significant
portions of several others.
