I am trying to connect a PC to an HP3000 DTC 16MX via an NPORT DE-311 in
the UK and an NPORT 5610-8 in the US. The NPORT products are serial
servers.

The problem I have is that I can't seem to get the DTC wired to the 5610-8
correctly.

The connection looks like this:-

PC ---> de-311 ---> 5610-8 ---> DTC ---> HP

The connection works fine from the PC as far as the 5610-8 but I can't get
anything between the DTC and the 5610-8.

The connection between the DTC and the 5610-8 uses RJ45's.

I am told by our American office that they are trying to use a cable with
the following pin connections.

NPORT    DTC
4  -----  1
5  -----  3
3  -----  6

I have checked and these pins look correct to me.

Does anyone have experience using serial servers to HP3000's.

Any help would be appreciated.
