The IP address of another HP3000 was scheduled to change a few days ago,
and thus in an attempt to minimize any batch job failures between the 2
machines (since the DNS tables get updated only twice per day) I decided to
change the name search order in the "NETXPORT.GLOBAL" screen to "1,2,3",
specify the new address in the "nsdir.net.sys" file, use the 'delname
hostname' of the 'nettool.net.sys' utility and change the entry in the
'hosts.net.sys' file to reflect the new address.

After doing all this my "ftp hostname" would fail while "ftp
147.159.xxx.xxx" would succeed.

What did I miss?

Regards
Paul Christidis

BTW: There is a link from 'etc/hosts' to 'hosts.net.sys'
