Isn't SAP DB based on ADABAS?

Kind regards,

We will continue to support and enhance our IMAGE based products in hopes
that IMAGE goes open source or continues to be supported. Our products are
also being ported to work with HP-Eloquence, which I might add is a nice
alternative to IMAGE and offers an easy migration path off the 3k for your
current IMAGE databases. Version 7 due out at the end of this month seems to
have a lot of web tools available. Our tools, Java API for Eloquence (ADBC)
and Eloquence access from Web/iX will also be due out at the end of this
month.

Web-iX, being a J2EE application server will continue to support the J2EE
architecture and will work with all relational and non-relational databases
on the market. Being 100% Java, it can also be used with any platform.
Keep your eye on the Connector Architecture, their will be one common
interface to all databases (Relational and non-Relational).

Our choice of Relational Databases is still SAP DB. It runs on HP-UX, Linux
and NT. It is supported by SAP via their list server, and seems to be as
robust as Oracle. Costwise, SAP DB is free while Oracle remains high priced.
I notice on their list group, a lot of migrations from Oracle and many
installations on Linux.

I disagree that J2EE is hard to learn. IMO, J2EE is the way of the future,
every one will be using it eventually, it only makes sense if you want to
build scalable, pluggable, integrated, vendor neutral business applications.

ANSI-Studio, our new IDE tool, will not only have VPLUS migration wizards,
ADBC development wizards, but we will also have wizards to create J2EE
applications. Our wizards will also work with other popular IDE tools on
the market. ANSI-Studio will deploy to any J2EE application server on the
market.

You can find some screen shots at:

http://java.sun.com/j2ee/ is a great resource for J2EE and I also suggest
the book "Developing Web Services Using J2EE" by Michael Yawn, due out this
May.
