I have always trained new system managers that SYSSTART.PUB.SYS must have
MANAGER.SYS as its creator, and be built on LDEV 1. I can't find anything
to say why, either, but it is what I was taught (too many) years ago, and I
contine to propagate a myth.

His posting reminded me of one thing I ALWAYS train new managers to do,
however, and that is to build the file containing their SYSTEM LEVEL UDCs
(specifically the file with the LOGON option), on an LDEV other than 1.
This way you can start the system SINGLE-DISK and not have them active,
which is very handy when you shoot yourself in the foot in your login
script.

Came to mind,
Rs~
