Thanks for all the advice on this ... I agree with Joseph Dolliver that this C1099A
console that came with the computer is worthless. I actually went downhill after
I sent out the message, losing the console display altogether. ^B worked just fine
to get to the GSP, but typing CO just gave me a blank screen. All the other work stations worked fine and the console session was still logged on the system, but I could no longer get to it. I wish I had read John MacLerran's note before I rebooted the computer:

=================================
If you haven't tried it yet, one thing you might try is to reset the GSP
-- on the back of the A400 there's a small reset button that says GSP
Reset -- you'll need a paper clip to press the button as it's pretty
well recessed. You can do this with the system powered up and users
on... On our system it didn't disturb them and it only takes a couple of
minutes. I don't know for sure if it'll help, but the GSP could be the
thing that ran out of resources and could be preventing proper
communications between the console and the system.
==================================

I'll have to try that next time this happens. Anyway, rebooting the computer did
clear up the problem and now everything is working fine. Except that console
is still worthless.  Thanks.
