Hi Mark,
Yes, have issued ABORTIO to it more times than I can count.   No change.I can ping the printer.It is functional.
Have not tried to configure the printer as a different LDEV, because many programs are hard-coded to send output to it.Currently moving spool files from the LDEV to another as a stop gap measure.I really need to get the original LDEV definition functional.

Have you tried ABORTIO LDev?  If it is a network printer, can you ping it?  Have you tried to configure the same printer IP as a different LDev.  There are many ways to approach this.  Assuming the printer is actually functional, I am confident I can help you get it working again.
