Denys Beauchemin asked regarding Carly:

"What did she do exactly?"

As I read and remember the history of the reign of terror a.k.a. the reign
of Carly at HP, she originally went to Compaq to discuss the possibility of
HP licensing HPUX to run on Compaq servers. When she posed the question to
[Michael (?) what's his name] the then CEO of Compaq, the response was what
about HP buying Compaq?

I imagine after the initial few moments of shock swirling through Carly's
mind subsided, scenarios of an expanded queenship danced in her head. After
all, she could double the devoted membership of the Cult of Carly in one
fell swoop, and for only $19 billion dollars. Nice deal for Carly - all done
with "OPM" (other people's money).

After proposing the idea to the HP Board of Directors, receiving approval
and then a nasty proxy fight with those of clan Hewlett, Carly won the
battle on the field of purchases. Only after causing corporate indigestion
with hints of possible illegal flavoring in the guise of identity fraud to
obtain phone records of various Board members was Carly removed by the Board
for failure to execute the Board's plans quickly enough.

So does that recant of "A Brief History of Carly's Tenure at HP" ring any
bells Denys? If memory serves, and perhaps it hasn't... that's my
recollection of what Carly did.
