After reviewing the archives, I am still a little skeptical about the
stability of the LineJet 500Q on the HP3000
(sorry I can't bring myself to type e3000) platform. Can anyone provide
first hand testimonial (good or bad)
about using them on a 3000?

We have always used 256x printers. Since they are virtually impossible to
import into China (or at least that is
what our Chinese customs expert says), I am forced to find a "current"
alternative. Reading the HPweb page
indicates the LJ500Q is the answer.

I am of course open to other suggestions, but the printer must meet these
criteria:
1) be locally available in China
2) have a "local" (in China) source for supplies
3) have a "local" (in China) source for repair

Obviously I was having problems meeting these criteria for the 256x printers
(hence my education in the customs
problems surrounding importing them), but at least we have experience with
256x printers and know what to expect
from them and how to support them. But I grow weary of battling the customs
bureaucracy over importing them.
Now if anyone can provide a Chinese source for 256x printers, I will gladly
reward them with a cold beer (or 12).
