It certainly would have mattered if the Republicans
won.  Once France fell, a Communist run Spain certainly 
would have been on Hitler's invasion list.  The map
of the European Theatre of operations would have been
markedly different.   I could not imagine Hitler taking 
on the Soviet Union with a idealogically hostile Spain 
at his back.

The Pyrennees are not easily crossed by mechanized
forces.  So Mediterranean amphibious forces would 
have also had to have been utilized to secure an 
overland supply route to France once Spain were
attacked.

So either the invasion of the Soviet Union would have
been put off by a year due to the shortened campaigning
season, or the Afrika Korps would have never been sent
to bail out the Italians.  The Balkan invasions would
have probably been on a different timeline also.
