cory,

the file is intact but the code is no longer "PRIV" when you do a listf
filename,2?

i have never seen this problem but it sounds like the label is getting
changed. have you looked at your log files to see if someone or a job is
signing on around that time?

----------

Twice in the past few weeks we've had the PRIV code get lost on the same
production dataset on our 6.0 PP1 machine. The dataset is not a jumbo.
So
far the cause or any symptoms have eluded us. Both occurred overnight,
but
at significantly different points in our nightly cycle. Neither HP nor
Bradmark (we use DBGeneral, although it was not being used at the time of
failure) has any prior experience with the problem. The first time we
restored the DB and had to rerun the nightly jobs. The second time we
were
prepared with FILECODE from Allegro and simply putting the code back fixed
the problem.

Any ideas or experience you can share would be appreciated.
