Robert actually missed the other piece of news about HP's North American
"Genius" promotion, which isn't just a joint promotion between HP and
Speedware.

Cognos is also taking part in the Genius promotion, and is offering a
FREE PowerHouse Web Starter Kit for Windows NT Server worth over
$13,500 to qualifying customers who upgrade their PowerHouse 4GL
license and take advantage of the new flexible pricing, also announced
on June 15. (The press release announcing the new pricing option, for
those who missed it, is on the Cognos web site at
http://www.cognos.com/whatsnew/rel_227.html.)

The FREE PowerHouse Web Starter Kit consists of:

 1) PowerHouse Web for Windows NT Server

         Enables PowerHouse screen programs built with the newest
         version of PowerHouse 4GL, version 8.2, to be accessed via
         any standard Web browser. A single license for PowerHouse
         Web enables unrestricted use of the software on a single
         server machine...the only limitation to the number of users
         you can support is the throughput of the machine itself.

 2) PowerHouse 4GL Development for Windows NT

         A single development license of PowerHouse 4GL to enable
         PowerHouse screen programs to be built for execution with
         the PowerHouse Web application server.

 3) PowerHouse Data Access for ODBC

         One license for the supplied PowerHouse Web software, and
         a second license for the supplied PowerHouse 4GL software,
         to enable development and execution of PowerHouse screen
         programs on Windows NT that access HP 3000 data through
         the supported ODBC drivers.

         (Note that the ODBC driver software must be obtained
         separately from the appropriate supplier.)

 4) 12-months Standard Support

         Providing a year of support and software updates for the
         software in the PowerHouse Web Starter Kit.

So, North American customers who upgrade to a 9x9KS through the
Genius promotion will be able to build and run Web applications
against their HP 3000 data (and anything else that PowerHouse on
Windows NT can access, such as Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server, etc.)
even before the native MPE/iX version arrives (around September).
