I agree with Mike, although it's also typical for MPE/iX release end-of-support
dates to be rather soft, historically.  Unless HP can make a good case for a
firm 12/31/2000 EOS for 5.5, I think Mike makes a good case for a formal
extension of support for this release to at least June 2001.

My point is that due to expectations and certifications regarding y2k  doesn't
5.5 need to be supported at least through May of 2001. Many HP3000 run
W2,1099 and other tax programs that would see y2k data in 2001 for the first
time.

Given the tremendous investment that HP and all of their customers have made
in updating and certifying software versions IMHO it would be extremely and
unnecessarily wasteful to arbitrarily  cut off support for 5.5 prior to
critical year end and tax processing application cycles.
