Historically, unions came into existence because so many
managers/owners of large companies treated workers like dirt. I don't
blame the workers. They unionized in self defense.

Something I agree with you on, Fred.
And when the rumors of 'union' started these companies leaned on the
people talking 'union' so these people learned to talk quietly, and
eventually it took on a 'conspiritorial' tone and developed a momentum
which could nto be stopped.
