I've had the same experience with my 918DX and booting it into the year 2009.
(The next time the current calendar repeats). It seems like the offset from
the actual hardware clock is TOO big. Try using CLKUTIL to really set the
hardware clock to the desired date and time (UTC, of course) and then adjust
the clock as needed at bootup or with setclock.
