Trust me... it's "all-beef". I remember a joke about it that got Johnny
Carson sued over that very issue.

Once upon a time, McDonalds signs kept a running total of how many burgers
they had served... 780 Million Served, etc. They finally just changed it to
"Billions Served" sometime in the late 70s or early 80s. Carson one night
commented on the change and then added "If they keep this up, pretty soon
they're going to need another cow". I'm guessing that McDonalds lawyers
were on the phone in less time than it took Ed McMahon to say
"heeeeeeerrreeeeeees Johnnnnnnny".

I always thought it was "all-meat" patties. I don't recall McDonald's ever
claiming that had beef in their patties.

To end this unfortunate mangling of a timeless corporate catch-phrase, the
composition of the Big Mac(TM) is
"two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a
sesame seed bun.":)
