I need to move a batch file from a W95 system to a W2K system (and when
these problems come up, I like to ask people "What year is it?"). The one
thing that has me stumped is that the * shortcut * to this batchfile prompts
the user for a password (the batch file, among other things, uses a
"read-only" id to retrieve files from a secured systems). In W95, the
shortcut has "batfile.bat ?", and the ? does the trick. I have no idea how
to do the same thing on W2K. Anyone?

I would prefer whatever one can use on the command line in the shortcut.
This has the disadvantage of not hiding the password as it is typed, while
giving the advantage of keeping the details of implementation completely
obvious. If someone has some clever bit of Windows Scripting Host scripting
or vbscript, it would be great if that hid the password as typed.
