Can I extend this thread a little ?

From Ken's reply it would appear that when we leave our venerable HP3000 with its integrated spoolfile management subsystem, the responsiblity for controlling the printers is transferred to the application. Arrgh !

Has anyone any experience of unix or NT clones of the HP3K spooler? (plugs welcome !).

Esc E

What HP recommends in general is that you do this before your job:
 Esc %-12345X Esc E
and this after your job:
Esc E Esc %-12345X
