Operator/Programmer

Knight-Ridder, Inc., a Fortune 500 newspaper and business information
company, is seeking an Operator/Programmer to join its Corporate
Information Systems Department.  This individual will be responsible for
operations tasks supporting HP3000 computers and networks; printing
reports; tape operations; scheduling, monitoring and reviewing cycled
operations , system resources, and monitoring computer equipment;
assisting with system maintenance and installation of software and
hardware upgrades; providing  first-level support to all Corporate IS
applications; and participating in programming tasks as directed.

The ideal candidate will have a four-year college degree in Information
Systems/MIS/Computer Science or equivalent, plus 2-4 years of computer
systems related experience or equivalent. Knowledge of the HP3000 is
desired,  as well as familiarity with PCs, LANs, WANs, and
Windows/Windows95.  Second shift work schedule: 2 pm - 11 pm, four
nights per week and Saturday.
