Been there, done that, got the 2X large T-shirt (good for a beer belly that
never went away!) and the bumper sticker. Look at your NMMGR configuration
for your modem ports the next time you get back to the office. I'll bet
they're configged with a profile of TR18Usomething. I'll also bet that
your office connection is defined with a profile of "TR10D...". The "18"
usually indicates a terminal type of 18 which is set for any terminal other
than an HP terminal. This makes sense for a dial-up connection since you
often have people dialing in with any terminal and modem they happen to
have laying around. Any VPLUS application needs a terminal type of 10 (an
HP terminal) to work correctly. If you are coming in via VT or telnet, the
default configuration for these types in NMMGR is "TR18U..." for the same
reason that modem connections default that way.

There are two ways to solve this problem. First, you could fix up your
profile definition in NMMGR (at an HP terminal!) to set the terminal type
to 10. You could then dial in or telnet in to your HP with your HP
terminal and all will be "honkey dorey" and you can go off into VPLUS-land
without a problem. The other way (which I use) is to dial-up the HP and
sign on as:

     :HELLO USER.ACCOUNT;TERM=10

By tacking on the ;TERM=10, I force the connection to recognize me as an HP
terminal regardless of what NMMGR says. Give it a try!! If you still
can't get it to work, please respond via private email and we'll try to rig
something up!
