Hello,

Looking for a bit of advice please.

I'm attempting to upgrade from 4.3 Gb drives to 18 Gb drives (
ST318404LC ), on 979/100 version 6.5 no powerpatch. I replaced existing
4.3 Gb drives by inserting the new 18 Gb drives into existing Jamaica
style disc enclosures units. I carefully plugged in the SCSI adapter from
the enclosure into the drive, and then slid the enclosure units into the
existing configured Jamaica. They power up OK and go through self test in
the Jamaica OK (i.e. Green lights on the bottom 4 drives first, then no
lights) but the paths of the 18 Gb drives then do not show up in MAPPER.
Both the 4.3 Gb and 18 Gb are F/W SCSI, so cabling should be OK.

I've played with it quite a bit, (i.e turn off Jamaica, put in half the
drives, turn it on again, run MAPPER, it displays the original 4.3 Gb but
not the new 18 Gb, etc.) I looked at the jumper settings on the drives,
they are at default (no jumpers except factory cover on left 4 sets).

It's probably something simple, but not having done this before, I'm not
sure what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks

Steve Weber
