Alfredo Rego asks: But I can't think straight, much less read between the
lines. Could you please help me "get" the real meaning behind your message?
How do you interpret donna's oracular words?

Believe it or not, there was nothing between the lines. I literally meant
just what I said. I interpreted donna's statement to mean that an MPE shell
running under UNIX is a new paradigm for MPE users. I merely applauded her
for extracting and giving significance to that detail of what was an
otherwise normal technical question. (I am in favor of "Normal Technical
Questions" and am in no way belittling them, the people that ask them or the
people that answer them. That after all is one of the functions of the list.
;-))

I have since been told that this particular implementation is about ten
years old. Therefore, it might not be as futuristic as I first thought. The
fact is that this method appeared to be new to many of us. I do not recall
anyone mentioning this methodology for MPE to UNIX transitions.

So, whether donna's words are or are not insightful or oracular I will leave
for everyone to interpret for themselves. I personally did not think about
the "newness" of MPE shell under UNIX until donna mentioned it. donna's
statement has caused me to look at a problem in a new way and because of
that I will become more knowledgeable about my chosen profession. As I said
above: That after all is one of the functions of the list.

With the greatest respect and warmest regards.

I spent the night programming away and my brain is resting right now
(my fingers can still type, though, and my eyes can still read :-)

But I can't think straight, much less read between the lines.
Could you please help me "get" the real meaning behind your
