I've not messed with Predictive Support for a loooonnnng time now,
so please forgive me if this is a silly question, but....

I was informed many moons ago that there was not only the
automated dial-out capability required by the Predictive Support
software running on the 3000, but also some 'non-manual' (I
hate to call it automated) process that would dial into the predictive
support modem from HP for some purpose that alludes my mind
at the moment. I also vaguely remember thinking that this was
not simply a RC engineer calling in to check on things, but something
not initiated (at least directly) by a person from HP.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? If it ever really existed, is there
still such a thing going on? The reason I want to know, is that I want
to secure the Predictive Support modem for outgoing calls only (I'll
deal with getting the RC dial up access in other ways), but I don't
want some HP process (working on my behalf?!?) to fail since it
can't get to the modem anymore.
