My understanding:

The current CD-ROM based LaserRom is being replaced by the new CD-ROM
based Instant Information, based on the DynaText document search system
by Inso Corp. (www.inso.com). A side effect of which is that HP may
be able to make the MPE documentation available via the web as they
have for HP-UX. So you will still be getting CD-ROMs, they will just
be using different software.

Last year I spent a lot of time working with Unisys's CD-ROM documentation
set which was based on the DynaText engine. It had several advantages
over the LaserRom software, most noticeably the ability to print any or
all of a manual and have it look just like a real printed manual. It
also had a number of annoyances such as the performance of scrolling
through tables and hyperlinks, but Instant Information is probably
based on a much newer version of the Dyna stuff, and may be improved.
I have not seen the CD-ROM version of the HP-UX Instant Information yet
personally.
