John confirmed to me privately (perhaps he meant to post to the list, his
message seems to indicate that,) he had done the backup with @[log in to unmask]@ and the
original restore with @[log in to unmask]@.
This, plus the fact the [log in to unmask]@.@ worked, indicates to me that the
documentation in HELP is flawed. I am running a few tests here and will
post the results.

I have been hit before by the ;DIRECTORY option. Posix directories
are stored by this and reloaded accordingly. (Caveat: this may have
changed, I have had TS7x24 since beta days).
If you just :restore with ;create and no ;directory, the posix
directories get some default permissions, IIRC.
