Double-check on your e3000 that your local DNS server's IP address is listed in
/etc/resolv.conf aka /SYS/NET/RESLVCNF.

If you were using a non-local DNS server in RESLVCNF, your e3000 would need to
go out onto the Internet to resolve the top level domains (i.e. .com, .us,
etc).

But if your e3000 is already using the same DNS server that's authoritative for
gfps.k12.mt.us, then I can't explain the hang.
