From HP 3000 Update:
HP recently announced that CIB I/O servers and HP-IB I/O will no
longer
work in MPE/iX 6.5 (which is scheduled to ship in the first half of
2000) nor in any subsequent releases. This support removal
announcement
will enable HP to improve development schedules for next generation
platforms. The CIB I/O-based HP 3000 servers, the 925/935/949
family;
the 920/922/932/948/958 family; the 950/955/960/980 family, and the
HP-IB will continue to be supported on MPE/iX until October 2000
and on
MPE/iX 6.0 until October 2001. HP recommends that customers plan
transition from CIB I/O servers to HP 3000 9x8 or 9x9KS servers,
and
from HP-IB peripherals to SCSI or LAN connected peripherals.
I wonder if I can get a SCSI interface for my HP7978 tape drive. Or
maybe I just get rid of it and have more room in my home office. Could
be about time to upgrade my 948, too.
