And just who creates market forces? Remember the little guy from
Redmond, who about 8 years ago started touting a quaint little device
called a CD-ROM to sell software? I guess that he was 'reacting' to
'market forces'. Yeah, right! How about the boys at Apple? Was the
MacIntosh a reaction to market forces, or a manifestion of somebody's
vision?

Where is the 'market force' to move to NT coming from? From happy
and conented users with decades of experience running business
system?

Or from Madison Avenue. From people for whom pluging in a
toaster presents a significant technical achievement?

There is cause and there is effect. HP are not abandoning the 3000
because of market forces. HP, and particularily HP's marketing and
financial people, are simply taking the path of least
resistance. Like a river, as it does so it slows down, gets broader
and shallower and eventually loses power. A major river cuts its
own path to the sea, a major company does the same. They only start
to wander when they get tired.

Regards,
Jim
