Hi:

I'm eager to try out Ted Ashton's MPE::IMAGE module, so I downloaded it, and discovered that I need gcc installed.

So I bit the bullet, downloaded gnucore and gnugcc from jazz, and installed as per the instructions. I didn't see any errors.

I've been using Perl/iX for the past year or so, and have grown to love it (thanks Mark B.). In fact, I've gone so far as to use Perl in several production runs.

However, after the gnugcc install, I get the following:

:/bin/perl
Access to this file is denied for the specified file access; a security
violation occurred. (FILE OPEN ERROR -248)
File System message 248
HPFOPEN failed. (LDRERR 56)
Native mode loader message 56
Unable to load program to be run. (CIERR 625)
:
or from the shell

$ /bin/perl

**** EXEC FUNCTION FAILED; subsys =517; info = 48
ABORT: PERL.PUB.PERL
NM SYS a.00a9a4a0 dbg_abort_trace+$24
NM UNKN 1c4.001f8f9c
NM UNKN e8.0004ac0c
[1] + Done(134) /bin/perl
  6946952
Abort
/bin/perl
$

So I re-installed Perl/iX as per the instructions at bixby.org. This didn't help.

I am, of course, able to run Perl as MANAGER.SYS, but not as MGR.PERL or any other user.

MPE/iX 6.0 PP1

I suspect its a permissions thing, so can anyone enlighten me as to which dirs should have what permissions within the /PERL/PUB hierarchy?

Any and all help would be appreciated.
