Don't know if possible BUT definitely neither tested nor supported.
And such a large jump might give you many unexpected surprises (like
a potentially large add'l amount of disc space needed etc).

An intermediate step to 5.5 with a reasonable PowerPatch level might
probably be better (safer, supported, no need to wait until fall etc).
