According to my MPE-V tables manual, blocking factor was contained in
1-byte located in the file's File Control Block (FCB). The text further
indicates that the only legal values were 1-255. If I recall, it was
derived at open by dividing the block size by record length from the
file label.
My MPE-3 tables manual is in a different storage box...
