Actually, 192.168.0.1 is the lowest valid IP address in that range.

In any case, from the info provided by the OP from NETCONTROL, his 3000 is
clearly configured to have an IP address of 192.168.1.1. If that is a
mistake, and that should be the gateway address instead, then I could see a
potential IP address conflict and of course FTP wouldn't work in that case
(nor would any other network service). The other "clue" is what Donna
pointed out ... the DNS resolution for the hostname indicates a different IP
address.

I'm guessing, right now, that there was an error in configuring the network
with NMMGR (which is an awful kludge of an config tool, as we all know).
Until the IP addresses get straightened out, nothing else is going to work
well.
