Zane,
    This error is with CATREAD not CATOPEN. (you're getting further)
My Orbit (*minor plug*) Pocket Guide says that CATOPEN error 6 is
"user buffer overflow".  I'm only guessing, but it sounds like your
RAPID000 file may not be the same version matching the TRANCOMP
program.  Were both files from the other system?  Were they working
there?
    You might want to give the Response Center a call since I'm at IPROF
and my resources (and response time) are limited.
