I see you are on MPE/iX 5.5. It is a wild shot in the dark but there
was a bug introduced in 5.5 whereupon, if you used input redirection
(e.g. < tempfile), when you executed an "Exit" afterwards, it would
log you off. It sounds like you may have "discovered" it.
